Meet Our Staff!

Masuma Barrett, DVM, MS, CVA

Originally from Colorado, Dr. Masuma Barrett graduated from Colorado State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 followed by an Internship in Internal Medicine, Surgery and Emergency Medicine in New Mexico. Prior to veterinary medicine, Masuma was a Software Engineer for 12 years and served with the Peace Corps in Central America. However, her lifelong love for animals and passion for animal welfare brought her to the animal care field.

Dr. Barrett’s interests include emergency medicine, internal medicine and surgery. She also has a special interest in integrating alternative and conventional veterinary medicine to tailor pain management and long-term care. Certified through the Chi Institute, she is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist and also practices herbal therapy and food therapy.

Her family includes her husband and 2 dogs. In her spare time she fosters rescued animals, enjoys biking, reading and hanging out with her family. She is also a member of the National Veterinary Response Team of New England, a part of the National Disaster Response Team. Veterinary medicine is her passion, not a job, and she looks forward to being your other family doctor.

Justine Hammond, DVM

Dr. Hammond graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. While in veterinary school, Dr. Hammond completed numerous externships in avian/ exotic medicine, zoological medicine and wildlife medicine.

Upon graduation, Dr. Hammond was awarded the 2009 Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine's faculty award for excellence in avian medicine. After graduating, she completed a year-long intensive internship in avian/ exotic medicine at South Wilton Veterinary Group in Connecticut.

After her internship, Dr. Hammond joined the team at Chicago Exotics Animal Hospital, an avian/ exotics-only hospital outside of Chicago, IL. She has recently moved back to her native New Hampshire and found a home at Canobie Lake Vet, where she is delighted to continue her work with a wide variety of species.


Julie Stockbridge

Customer Service Manager / Veterinary Technician
Julie joined Canobie Lake Vet when they first opened in 2005. Prior to that, Julie worked with advertising agencies in the greater Boston area for 19 years. She has had extensive training working with clients in customer service and sales. Julie resides with her husband Neil, their cat Priscilla (Prissy), and their Guinea Pig Ganesh (Bubba Ganesh). Julie’s interests include yoga, reading, figure ice-skating and hiking.

 

Lindsay Meyers
Technical Services Manager / Veterinary Technician
Lindsay started at Canobie Lake Vet in the fall of 2007 while finishing her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of New Hampshire in Durham. After receiving her BS in 2008 she and her husband moved to Denver, Colorado. They returned to NH shortly after having their daughter in order to be closer to family. Upon their return in early 2010, Lindsay said “I can’t imagine being here in NH and working anywhere else!” so she is back . Lindsay has been working in the veterinary field since 1997, including a few years of working as a technician in emergency medicine. She is passionate about nutrition and internal medicine and lives for learning something new everyday. She spends her time away from the clinic with her husband, Brandon, chasing their crazy daughter, Maisie. They love to be outdoors with their 3 wonderful, wiry-haired, one of a kind dogs, Darby, Mo, and Max.

Jeffrey Frechette
Office Administrator

Jeffrey graduated from Keene State College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Sociology in 2007.  He has over 8 years of customer service experience working in both retail and hospitality.  Jeffrey has been in the animal care field for 6 years.  While Jeffrey loves all animals he has a special interest in exotics and has owned or fostered more than he can count.   Jeffrey currently has a chocolate Lab named Bruno and a Border Collie mix named Kafka. Jeffrey enjoys being outdoors, hiking, camping, swimming, and also loves to cook.


 

Eunice Hoshizaki
Certified Veterinary Technician
Eunice graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology. While in Chicago she worked as a production editor in a publishing company, a freelance proofreader, and then as a curatorial assistant and assistant exhibit developer at the Field Museum of Natural History. Eunice began working with animals after she moved east eleven years ago and has a great deal of experience working at animal shelters. She worked at the Humane Society in Nashua for a few years and now enjoys doing almost all the behavior consultations and training classes for both of Dr. Magnuson’s veterinary practices. Eunice has always had a special interest in animal behavior and now attends dog behavior and training seminars every year. In her free time Eunice enjoys reading, bird watching, traveling, and spending time with her pets.

 

Kerri Staruk
Veterinary Technician

Kerri joined our team in 2008 after aspiring to be part of the veterinary world. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 2011, where she studied Biology and Psychology. She is continuing on to Graduate School to further her education in Biology, and she is particularly interested in parasitology and microbiology. Kerri enjoys reading, sushi, traveling, and on occasion pet-sitting. Kerri shares her home with a variety of tropical fish, Prince Aidan - a Fire-Bellied Toad, Fiona-Darla Ralphina Delaney - a Red-Footed Tortoise, and until their passing her cat Byte and Golden Retriever Dustie.

Melissa Ralph
Veterinary Technician
Melissa joined our team in May 2009 and comes with over 10 years of veterinary medical experience.In 1998 Melissa received her Associates in Small Animal Science at Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute in Danvers, MA.  Melissa decided as a very young girl that she would work with animals.  She was the girl in the neighborhood who took home every stray cat  “because they needed a home and needed love”.  She enjoys working one on one with clients and their pets. She finds veterinary medicine very rewarding because she likes to help the animals that can’t always tell you what is wrong. Melissa spends her off hours with her daughter enjoying the outdoors, power walking, and doing pilates. She also enjoys spending time with her two cats; Marty and Curry and her dog Mango. 


Sara Cantara
Veterinary Technician
Sara has been working as a veterinary technician for 9 years and joined our team in 2010. She has a strong interest in radiology and phlebotomy and is excited to expand her knowledge of exotics, especially large avian breeds.  Her hobbies include horse training and riding. Sara enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Justin and their children.  She has a variety of pets: 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 horses.


Lindsay Knowlton
Veterinary Technician
Lindsay attended the Thompson School of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire.  She graduated in 2002 with her AAAS in Animal Science with a focus on Equine Management.  She continued on to receive her BS at the University of New Hampshire with her focus on Pre-Veterinary medicine in May 2009.  Lindsay joined the Canobie Lake Vet team in January 2011 where she works part time and also works full time at a local Veterinary Emergency and Surgery Hospital.  She looks forward to taking the Veterinary Technician certification exam this summer.  Lindsay enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Mike and their Boxer Tyson.  Her other interests include traveling, training horses and pet sitting.
 

Renee Zrakovi
Veterinary Assistant
Renee is a 2009 graduate of the University of New Hampshire in Durham with a B.A. in Dance. She has been a member of the Canobie Lake Vet  team since 2010 and also works part time at the Veterinary Emergency & Surgery Hospital in Brentwood. Dance is still a major part of her life and she teaches in Dover, NH. Renee is thrilled with her career choice and hopes to become a certified veterinary technician.


Jamie Press 
Receptionist
Jamie attended Montserrat College of Art and received her B.F.A with a concentration in photography in 2007. Before coming to Canobie Lake Vet she worked in the human service field for the past seven years where she received extensive customer service and management training. When not at work she enjoys spending most of her time laughing with her better half, their silly Miniature Dachshund Bubba, and their long haired Persian Princess Maddie. Some of Jamie's other interests include old muscle cars and hotrods, taking photographs, watching scary movies, making crafts, and collecting antiques and oddities.

Jae Mawby
Technician  Assistant
Jae is currently a student at Windham High School. Jae joined our team in 2009 and has a hard working and animal loving spirit like her brother Christopher who works at our sister hospital, All Pets Veterinary Hospital.
